On the commute after work I see a rider sitting on the grass next to his bike.  I pull over to see if he is ok.

“I’m just taking a break.  I’ve ridden from Nixa [about 13 miles].”

Meet Evan.  I hope I remembered his name correctly.

We talked about cycling and how he wanted to increase his miles and shed his backpack.  He admired my panniers and I told him the important thing about cycing is that he is out there.  Panniers and fenders can help, but the primary goal is to get out and ride.

We parted when the traffic died down and I hope to see him again some day.

Stay happy,

About rlhoover

A perspective on life and cycling in the Ozarks. I started serious cycling in 2008, after seeing my wife be on the bike for a few years. We have biked many places and hope to continue. I am no where near being a real good cyclist, but I have fun trying to improve. Who am I kidding? Me? Improve??

Nice! I think I have been seeing him around a lot lately.

    You did a good thing.

Tootle, I am now in a quandary. Since I approved your comment, does that now mean that I am displaying pride [one of the seven deadly sins] and thereby forfeiting all credit for doing ‘a good thing’??
